Over two years ago, De Tomaso made a comeback with the stunning, retro-inspired P72. Inspired by 1960s prototype race cars like the De Tomaso P70, the P72 made its public debut at the 2019 Goodwood Festival of Speed and shares the same platform as the Apollo Automobil Intensa Emozione.

Production of the P72 is due to begin next year at a new production plant in America, but De Tomaso hasn't announced a location yet. Two years after the P72 debuted, it looks like De Tomaso is preparing to unveil its second new supercar.

Ahead of its debut, a new teaser video titled 'Isabelle' previews the new supercar. Unfortunately, De Tomaso hasn't released any details about its new project. The video gives us a glimpse of the new supercar's silhouette hiding in the shadows with a more prominent rear spoiler and diffuser.

We also get to hear a sample of its "iconic American sound." The Isabelle could be a new track-only version of the P72, reviving the nameplate from the 1950s Isabelle Formula 2 race car named after De Tomaso's wife that made its racing debut in 1959.

Powering the De Tomaso P72 is a Ford-sourced 5.0-liter V8 tuned and supercharged by Roush to produce 700 horsepower and 608 lb-ft of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels. It certainly sounds like a V8 in the teaser. The track-only version could have even more power on tap. To save weight, it will also likely have a stripped-out interior.

Production of the regular P72 is due to start in Q4, 2022, with each example costing $850,000, but the Isabelle will likely be even more expensive and have a limited production run. More details about the mystery track car will be revealed next week on September 15 when the De Tomaso Isabelle debuts.
