Mercedes has officially released the first sketches of the 2016 Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe DTM racecar. The new designs were unveiled during one of the last DTM races of the year in Moscow. The new C63 will be the latest in a series of C-Class racing vehicles that have secured 85 victories for Mercedes over the course of 159 races. The car depicted in these drawings is scheduled to participate in the 2016 race season.

According to DTM rules, all participating vehicles must be powered by a 4.0-liter V8 engine with four valves per cylinder. Previous Mercedes DTM cars had to be downsized from the road-going versions. For example, the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG had a 6.2 liter V8 engine that was downgraded to a DTM-regulation 4 liter. However, this year's model will not require any downsizing as the current road-going C63 already has a 4.0-liter V8. According to the Head of Mercedes-AMG DTM, Ulrich Fritz, "The new Mercedes-AMG C 63 Coupé will again set new standards for driving dynamics and design. So, the vehicle provides the ideal basis for our DTM car."
