With some pretty notable exceptions that have primarily come from Chrysler over the years, convertibles tend to be pretty attractive cars. The BMW 650i convertible used to be one of these exceptions as well, but no more. The 2012 (available starting this spring) 650i is truly a thing of beauty. It is also a thing of power, with a twin-turbo direct-injection V8 producing 400 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque.
That power is sent through either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic gearbox, and it is safe to assume the top speed will be limited to 155mph, although BMW hasn't officially stated this yet. The top can be retracted in 19 seconds and the iDrive with a 10.2-inch screen comes standard. The price tag may cause a slight case of sticker shock, but $91,375 is a much more reasonable price now that the 650i is so damn pretty.
