Now that Chevrolet has revealed their all-new Sonic compact, the timing was all too convenient to also display a concept tuned version. The Sonic may not be the most exciting car, but the Z-Spec Concept has most definitely caught our eye. If you recall at last year's Detroit show, Chevy revealed the RS Concept, which was the earliest preview of the new Sonic. Fortunately, Chevy has continued to develop the hot hatch and it's inevitable that we'll begin to see tuned editions.

Chevrolet has taken the lead here with their Z-Spec aftermarket division, which will also be releasing numerous styling and performance modifications to future models. For the concept, Brembo, Recaro, K&N, BBS, Borla, and Pedders Suspension all came on board as tuning partners. It's powered by an upgraded version of the 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine found in the upper level Sonic. Peak output should be higher than 138 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque.
