We're still waiting for official confirmation from Audi itself, but it appears the German automaker will do something we've been long hoping for. That would be a US-bound RS 3 sedan. Currently available in Europe as a hot hatch called the RS 3 Sportback, Audi apparently wants to stick with the A3/S3 sedan-only strategy for the US. The report comes from Audi enthusiast blog Fourtitude, claiming that word has leaked out from an Audi of America all-employee meeting taking place in Maryland.
Assuming this is indeed true, then an RS 3 sedan would be the closest thing to the old RS 4 sedan from 2006-2008. Another fair assumption is that an RS 3 sedan would inherit the RS 3 Sportback's 2.5-liter five pot TFSI engine with 362 hp and paired to either a six-speed manual or a dual-clutch gearbox, sending power to all four wheels. We'll bring you an update the moment we have something.
