Like its corporate sibling, the Chrysler Sebring, the Avenger is not a very exciting car. It is available with the same 2.4 liter four-cylinder paired with an unresponsive four-speed automatic. An optional 3.5 liter V6 with 235 horsepower and six-speed automatic are highly recommended. Safety features include head-protection air bags and optional electronic stability control.
Also like the Sebring, the interior is comprised mainly of cheap plastics which don't stand up against the competition. In a more positive light, there is an interesting feature called the "Chill Zone" which can store up to four 12 fl oz. cans in the glove box and chill them to 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Consumer groups have rated the Avenger's overall reliability as below average.
