  • Dodge's Last Call for V8 to debut seven new special editions, these are third and fourth
  • The Swinger is a special Challenger/Charger built in tribute to an old Dodge Dart trim
  • Each Scat Pack Swinger gets a V8 with 485 horsepower 475 lb-ft of torque

This year is Dodge's "Last Call" for its V8 muscle cars, the Challenger and Charger. In case you've missed it, the brand's entire lineup is undergoing changes amidst the arrival of the electric vehicle era. Dodge even has an electric Charger Daytona muscle car concept. Now, before all that kicks off in the future, Dodge has issued a Last Call series of special editions for the outgoing V8s.

Part of Last Call means the release of six special-edition Challenger and Charger trims up until September 21. Then, a seventh and final 2023 model will be unveiled at SEMA in Las Vegas this November. What you're looking at is the third and fourth of these Dodge special editions. Only 1,000 of each will be made both are widebody, complete with special badging, accents, colors, and a big ol' Hemi V8. Place your keys in the bowl and meet the new Swinger in town.

Both of these are Scat Pack trims, which will use the RWD drivetrain layout paired with a 6.4-liter 485-hp, 475 lb-ft Hemi V8 to propel you to the next party. Jests aside, the original Swinger name didn't mean that. Instead, it was originally a trim for the now-dead Dodge Dart. It offered more power, as well as some special options, like a green-on-green interior/exterior, gold accents, and wood interior paneling. In short, it was a very swanky late '60s, early '70s car, right down to the name.

"The name says it all - the originals had a unique, fun character, and that's the same reaction we're hoping for with our 2023 Dodge Challenger and Charger R/T Scat Pack Swinger models," said CEO Tim Kuniskis. Each car comes covered in accents that mimic the above scheme, including gold grille badging and seats with green stitching and bold Dodge logos.

The Challenger Scat Pack Swinger also gets 20x11-inch "Gold School" wheels, a Gold School Challenger grille badge, Gold School painted Shaker intake, retro 'Swinger' rear fender graphics, and black six-piston Brembo brakes. Also included on the exterior is a Gold School Scat Pack spoiler badge with matching fender badges.

In addition to the aforementioned seat trimmings, the Challenger Swinger will have wood-like aluminum interior bezel textures, a green Swinger interior instrument panel badge, and finally, green interior accent stitching on both the console and doors.

For the Charger Swinger, aesthetic changes are much the same. Outside, you'll get all the above changes, and the same can be said of the inside. So the choice is really coupe or sedan for the Swinger special editions. If you're all about the Dodge Swinger life, these trims will be allocated in much the same way as the rest of Dodge's special edition Last Call models.

You'll have to hope your dealer sells Challengers and Chargers well, as only top-selling dealers will get allocations. On top of that, pricing and dealer info will be shared on DodgeGarage.com when orders for these final special editions finally open later this fall.
