The Dodge Challenger and Charger epitomize American muscle with their massively powerful V8 engines and aggressive looks. Nevermind the fact that both of these "American" muscle cars are assembled in Ontario, Canada and Dodge is now owned by an Italian company. Dodge still maintains the highest percentage of active US military buyers in the industry according to an mTAB study of new vehicle purchases.

In order to celebrate the men and women who serve the US in the armed services, Dodge is releasing a new New Stars & Stripes Edition for the Challenger and Charger, which adds special military-inspired touches. Dealerships will be able to order the Stars & Stripes Edition starting in May with deliveries starting this summer.

The Stars & Stripes Package costs $1,995 and is available on Challenger and Charger GT (RWD), R/T, and R/T Scat Pack trim levels, meaning you can have one with a 300 or 305-horsepower 3.6-liter V6, 370-375 hp 5.7-liter V8, or 485-hp 6.4-liter V8 engine mated an eight-speed automatic or six-speed manual (depending on model and trim level). Buyers will have a choice of nine colors including Destroyer Grey (pictured above), F8 Green (pictured above), Granite Crystal, IndiGo Blue, Maximum Steel, Octane Red, Pitch Black, Triple Nickel, and White Knuckle.

You'll be able to spot a Stars & Stripes car by its satin black and silver stripes, satin black American flag fender decals, 20-inch black wheels, and black badging. Challenger R/T Scat Pack and Charger Scat Pack models and GT and R/T models with the Performance Handling Group also include bronze four-piston Brembo brake calipers.

Inside, the Stars & Stripes package includes unique touches including gloss black interior accents, cloth seats with an embroidered bronze star, dark brushed interior bezels, unique antique bronze instrument panel badge, and bronze accent stitching. Even though anyone can buy the Stars & Stripes Edition, active military, active military reserve, retired military, retired military reserve, or honorably discharged veterans will be entitled to Dodge's "Honoring Those Who Serve" program through FCA US LLC, which includes up to$500 in Military bonus cash on purchases and leases of all 2018 and 2019 models.
