The current generation Dodge Challenger has been on sale since 2008. Most models as old as this are in dire need of an update, but demand for the muscle car is still strong. To keep the Challenger relevant, Dodge has unleashed new high-performance versions of the Challenger over the years such as the Challenger SRT Hellcat, Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye, and Challenger SRT Demon, but a new-generation version is still several years away.

You don't normally see Challengers tearing up the track, but this hasn't stopped Abimelec Design from showing what a track-focused Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat could look like.

At the front, the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat has been digitally upgraded with an adjustable front lip spoiler and vented hood. The front is also painted black in contrast to the rest of the car finished in grey. Elsewhere, the headlights and sections of the grille and front fascia have been removed to provide additional cooling to the track monster's engine.

A gigantic spoiler dominates the rear, which would generate a considerable amount of downforce. It looks ready for the road course, but sadly this Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat track car will have to remain a fantasy for now.

That may not be the case for long, however. Rumors suggest Dodge is plotting a special track-focused Challenger to celebrate the iconic muscle car's 50th birthday this year. It will reportedly be called the Dodge Challenger ACR as a nod to the Challenger SRT8 ACR concept shown at the 2011 SEMA show and borrow some of the Viper ACR's track-focused components including a body kit and an adjustable rear wing.

It could also pack even more power than the 797-hp Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye. If reports are true, the Dodge Challenger ACR may only be announced this year to commemorate the nameplate's 50th year, but such a vehicle is so far absent from the official 2020 Dodge Challenger 50th Anniversary Edition lineup.
