The Dodge Charger and Challenger are all about generosity. They are big, spacious cars with a selection of V6 and V8 engines offering plenty of performance. Where rivals are downsizing, Dodge keeps on making the sorts of cars that have a timeless appeal many customers can relate to.

Among them are the highest percentage of US military buyers. To show its appreciation, Dodge recently announced a new Stars & Stripes Edition for both the Challenger and Charger, both of which made their public debuts at this year's New York Auto Show.

Differentiating them from the standard models, there will be nine military-inspired color choices on offer. The Charger you see here is finished in Destroyer Grey while the Challenger is presented in F8 Green.

The Stars & Stripes package will be available on Challenger and Charger GT (RWD), R/T and R/T Scat Pack trim levels, meaning you have a choice of either a 300/305 horsepower 3.6-liter V6 or a 485 hp 6.4-liter V8. The cars also come fitted with 20-inch wheels, satin black and silver striping and an American flag on the fenders.

The Challenger displayed at the show also features the bronze-colored brake calipers that are included with models fitted with the Performance Handling Group. The interior also receives some unique touches like accent stitching, antique instrument panel badge and an embroidered star on the headrests, all of which are in bronze.

The changes may be subtle but they do enhance the lines of the standard cars and that Battleship Grey color is properly menacing. The Stars & Stripes Edition is not limited to just military personnel, however, both current and retired servicemen and women receive a $500 Military bonus on all 2019 models which effectively brings the cost of this package down by $1,495.
