Dodge Confirms: We Have No More Satin-Black Hoods for the Challenger Hellcat

On the bright side you can still see them in official photos.

Earlier this week we got wind that several people who placed an order for a 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat were facing an unexpected setback. Those who checked the box for the optional satin-black hood were informed their orders were delayed until at least February. If, however, they wanted to adjust their order for a body-color hood, then their Challenger Hellcat would arrive much sooner. So what’s the problem here?

Dodge isn’t saying exactly, but it has confirmed that the satin-black hood “is not currently available for production.” Will it ever be? Who knows. It’s a damn shame because that hood really gave the Hellcat a special look, helping to distinguish it from the less powerful Challenger models. For those who must have this paint scheme, we’re sure it won’t be a problem to find a paint shop somewhere that’ll happily oblige.
