Last month, Dodge revealed the lucky person to win the role of Chief Donut Maker. This role will see Preston Patterson act as a brand ambassador as part of Dodge's "Never Lift" campaign. It's a very important role as the high-performance automaker progresses towards something its fans are unlikely to love - an electric muscle car. Patterson will have to convince these people just how cool EVs can be, but he will also get to do what his title implies: shred tires and make noise. In addition, he will reveal details on the brand's future products, and if recent comments from the brand's CEO are anything to go by, he could be getting to drive a very special Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat.

Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis was asked by Gary Gastelu of Fox News why Patterson had been bashful about revealing the details of his specific Hellcat, as he has only said that it is black in color. Kuniskis shot back that it was a "good catch," before referencing the Never Lift Campaign calendar. This suggests that Dodge has something special in the works that the brand is not quite ready to reveal to us just yet. Presumably, this new car won't be a one-off, as that would do very little to encourage more buyers. Whatever the case, we'll have to wait for the brand to tell us more. Still, Kuniskis did have more to share.

He mentioned that it is important for Dodge to have emotive, real names rather than bland, alphanumeric ones as favored by most German automakers. This is why the brand's upcoming Alfa Romeo Tonale-based Dodge Hornet uses an old name that sounds cool. The Hornet is important in many ways, but what we're most interested in is the news that Dodge has "some other things we'll announce when we announce the Hornet," according to the CEO.

This could well be the special-edition Hellcat we're hoping for. It could also be the concept version of the electric muscle car that was supposed to be revealed earlier this year before supply challenges pushed schedules back. And if that's a disappointment, worry not: Kuniskis promises that his people are building an EV that "drives like a Dodge, looks like a Dodge, sounds like a Dodge, and performs like a Dodge." We'll reserve judgment until we see (and hear?) what it's like.
