The Dodge Journey is based off the Dodge Avenger platform, meaning it's car based. It comes with a standard 2.4 liter 173 horsepower four-cylinder. The optional engine is a 3.5 liter 235 horsepower V6. Transmission choices are either a four-speed or six-speed automatic transmission. Fuel mileage is surprisingly low on the V6 model, averaging only 16 mpg. Unlike the Ford Edge crossover, the Journey has a third row seat and integrated third-row child booster seats are an option in the second row.
The Journey also has a cleverly designed storage bin system, where passengers will find storage space under the front seats and in the second-row floor. Standard safety features include electronic stability control and side curtain airbags.
