What good is a car if it can't perform a symmetrical donut surrounded by dust and smoke? Dodge understands this well which is exactly why it launched its Chief Donut Maker campaign earlier this year in the hopes to keep the spirit of muscle cars alive, regardless of the fast-approaching world of electromobility.

Dodge is currently embarking on a 24-month road map that forms part of its Never Lift strategy. These next two years will be a swansong to its V8-powered cars until a fleet of EV alternatives is introduced by 2024. During this time, we will be treated to a series of special releases and competitions to celebrate its long heritage of smoking tires and burning octane.

While this is a campaign to promote the spinning of tires, the title of Chief Donut Maker is set to be somewhat of an official position in the company. Included in this will be a $150,000 paycheck, a bespoke wardrobe, and a Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat company car. The application for the job required participants to submit a video no longer than two minutes to state their case as to why they think they should bear this prestigious title.

Just under five months after the announcement, Dodge confirms that it received over 173,500 applicants. That means it had to cycle through, at most, 240 days' worth of footage to circle in on its current 10 finalists. This group will be pitted against one another in a trial by elimination setup at the Radford Racing School in Arizona until only two candidates remain.

This pair will fight for the Chief Donut Maker title of which the victor will be revealed on April 26, the company's official Hemi Day. Wrestling icon Bill Goldberg will spearhead the competition as the acting judge and decide who will progress to the finals. Dodge has even set up an official Chief Donut Maker webpage with more information about the 10 finalists from the video above.

In the final round, the two contestants will be subjected to completing challenging driving events while behind the wheel of a "Dodge horsepower heavyweight" while under the supervision of a professional driver. The entire challenge, including the aforementioned announcement, will be aired on the brand's social media channels.
