As far back as 2011, Land Rover executives stated to media outlets they didn't know what to do with the future of the Defender. The carmaker recognizes the Defender as an icon and a staple productivity vehicle in farming, rescue and utility industries, even importation/exportation and vehicle destruction. The executives pointed out the fact they have a great responsibility to provide for customers in particular industries. The Defender is simply not making enough money to warrant it staying around.

In the last two years the company has been exploring different options that might give the model a more mainstream appeal include redesigns and EV editions. Recently however, it looks as though none of those options are working out and LR is exploring the option of abandoning the market. Insert A. Kahn Design to the rescue. The UK based design firm has launched a change.org campaign addressed directly to Jaguar Land Rover CEO, Dr. Ralf Speth. The campaign only started a few days ago, and has already passed the requisite number of signatures, but A. Kahn Design implores the more that sign up, the more weight the campaign will have.
