Only time will tell, but we hope so.
When Ford announced that the automaker would build a high-performance, hardcore model of the Focus, we lost our minds. Then the much-talked about Fiesta RS was officially announced as a no-go. In a recent interview with UK's Auto Express, Ford's executive vice president of global marketing, Steve Odell, spilled the beans regarding future high-performance vehicles from the brand. "The RS brand is really valuable," stated Odell. "People race it. People collect it. I believe there is room to expand."
While that's great news, Odell didn't confirm which models would receive the RS treatment. To us, a high-performance Fiesta seems like the most likely candidate. A RS-badged Fiesta makes sense because it's long been rumored and Ford could easily give it the same treatment as the larger Focus. Auto Express also claims that the Ford Fusion and Escape are candidates to get the RS treatment. The Fusion Sport model was also just unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show and it has power figures similar to the upcoming Focus RS, but a high-performance Escape just sounds like wild rumor. Hopefully, Ford will have the guts to build an even hotter Fiesta.
