After a lackluster 2012 model, Honda's Civic Si has been freshened for 2013 but there's new competition from the likes of Ford.
Honda gave its entire Civic lineup a major refresh for 2013, including the performance Si variant. Although nothing changed under the hood from last year’s model, the 2013 Civic Si once again has a naturally aspirated four-pot that’s good for 201 horsepower and paired to a quick-shifting six-speed manual. The problem, however, is that the Si is a front-wheel-drive car and with a power output at this level, there’s a fair amount of understeer. Not to mention, it also has quick to react stability control.
But now that there’s fresh competition coming from the likes of the Ford Focus ST, is the Civic Si still the best all-around affordable sporty car? Motor Trend’s Carlos Lago investigates.
