Mercedes was hoping to sell around 50,000 R-Class units a year when it debuted in 2005. However, with high gas prices and the concern that it's just another gas guzzler, sales world wide have fallen short, especially in the United States. Does this mean the R-Class is going to be discontinued? Not yet, at least for now. Mercedes is launching a facelifted 2011 model and only in 2009 did the company begin offering the clean BlueTEC diesel as an option.

Combined with all of the typical Mercedes-Benz features, one would imagine this would be a popular car. However, it carries a base price of $50,000 and can be out of budget for a family. Only time will tell whether Mercedes to introduce another generation or discontinue the model altogether.
