Croatia is still not a big name in the auto industry but now, with the Doking XD electric car it takes first steps to establish a motor industry. The Doking XD, a three-seater compact electric vehicle built out of aluminum and carbon and weighs 2,645lbs in basic spec, is the pioneer for the industry. After attending the Geneva Auto Show and the IAA in the Frankfurt Messe, the car, which was upgraded from a concept car to a prototype status for the European market, is now on display at the LA Auto Show.

At 2,645lbs for the basic version this compact EV is quite heavy. It has either 120 hp engine or a more powerful 240 hp unit, in both cases at 4,500 rpm. The former accelerates to 62 miles in 7.5 sec. and the latter in 4.2 sec. while top speed for both versions is 87 mph. both versions carry a 320 battery pack. The range for the basic version is 155 miles when average speed is 25mph or 68 miles for 75mphaverage speed. For the stronger version it's 137 miles and 65 miles respectively. The car's structure is made of aluminum and the chassis' weight is 265lbs. The suspension components are made of aluminum and carbon.
