Liam Doran, the 24 year old British Rallycross driver is facing the most challenging season of his racing career. He will take part in the American GRC series; he will tackle the Pikes Peak hill climb; he plans to defend his crown at the X-Games; and he will also take part in the European Rallycross Championship, driving a new Citroen DS3. But before his long season began, he took a small trip to the famous old Nurburgring racing track.
Unfortunately he didn't get off to the best of starts. Driving a Litchfield tuned 650 hp Nissan GT-R for fun he lost concentration for a split second, causing the biggest accident on the old track this season. Doran braked too late into a right-hand hairpin at the end of a long straight; he couldn't slow the car down and went off track unable to negotiate the hairpin properly. His Nissan GT-R then crashed heavily, flipped over and landed on its roof. Although the car wasn't equipped with a safety cell, Doran was lucky to escape unhurt.
