Who's your money on?
The Lamborghini Urus is one of the fastest and most extreme SUVs on the planet, a super SUV that sits above the likes of the Bentley Bentayga and Rolls-Royce Cullinan for being more sporty and more focused on performance. Although the fast SUV that is most similar to it would likely be the Audi RS Q8, Russian YouTube channel Kickdown wanted to see how it compares to BMW's incredible X5 M Competition. Both cars have all-wheel-drive, but while the Bimmer costs over $114,000, the Lambo starts at $207,000. Does this exotic brand have what it takes to beat something more accessible like an X5? Let's see.
Unfortunately, the entire video is in Russian, so you may not understand what's going on. Thus, we'd suggest skipping ahead to 12:40 to see the drag race begin. For reference, the BMW X5 M Competition produces 617 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque while the Lamborghini Urus makes 641 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. As you can see from the video, both cars have brilliant launch control systems and seem to be very evenly matched, with the Urus just pipping the Bimmer to the quarter-mile. After that, it's another story altogether and the Urus starts pulling away like the BMW is looking for parking.
It's not all that surprising considering that the Urus was once the fastest SUV in the world, achieving a speed of just under 190 mph. What is nonetheless impressive is that the BMW almost beat the Lambo over 1,320 feet. The X5 M Competition weighs just under 5,100 pounds, while the Lambo is considerably lighter at 4,850 pounds, so an extended race was always going to end one way. Still, it's always nice to see something a little more 'blue collar' giving the legendary Lamborghini name cold sweats. Which would you have? The BMW is more spacious and practical, but if you're spending over $100,000 on an SUV, does that really matter?
