The Mercedes G-Class has a reputation for being one of the toughest off-roaders on the market that can handle just about any type of terrain. Luckily for this driver, it's also one of the safest - let this video be a lesson in how not to drive a Mercedes G-Wagon.

The owner of a last-generation Mercedes-AMG G63 wanted to have some fun in the snow, so they took the high-performance off-roader for a spin on a snow track. Unfortunately, it doesn't go well as they pushed the off-roader well beyond its limit.

As they learned the hard way, off-road-focused SUVs are not designed for performance driving as their high center of gravity makes them more likely to roll over when pushed over the limit.

For a few seconds, they manage to get the heavy SUV sideways around a sharp turn. It's an impressive display as it's not every day you get to see a G-Class slide in the snow like a rally car, but the fun doesn't last long. The rear clips a snowbank, causing the top-heavy SUV to tip over and land unceremoniously on its roof. Seconds later, spectators scramble to help the driver out of the overturned SUV before the video cuts out.

It isn't known if the driver was injured in the accident, but it looks like the accident happened at low speed. Luckily, the damage to the SUV doesn't look too serious as the roof remained intact thanks to the SUV's rigid structure that protects occupants in the event of a crash. Its crash protection and advanced tech helped the Mercedes G-Class achieve a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating.

Maybe next time they want to enjoy some sideways driving they should invest in an AMG performance car like the Mercedes-AMG GT63 S, Mercedes-AMG E63 S, or Mercedes-AMG CLA45, which all have dedicated drift modes.
