When you go spend over $140,000 on a performance car like the 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT63, we strongly recommend going to a driving school to learn how to pilot it properly. If you've just bought an AMG car, Mercedes operates several different programs to help take advantage of your car's incredible performance capabilities. Many of these teach attendees how to drive on a race track, but others are a bit more special.

Starting in January 2021, the AMG Driving Academy will offer customers a fantastic opportunity called the AMG Winter Experience. The program is based in the Swedish town of Arjeplog and lets attendees drive on a frozen lake with specially prepared sections and handling tracks.

During the trip, participants in the school will learn how to drive performance AMG models in extreme winter conditions without fear of crashing into anything. By their side, a team of professional instructors with backgrounds in GT motorsport, Formula racing, and Rallying is there to give specialized tips.

The cars in the program are pretty impressive too. In addition to the aforementioned AMG GT63, other available vehicles include the Mercedes-AMG A45 S, Mercedes-AMG C63 S Coupe, and Mercedes-AMG CLA45 S. For North American clients, this is a rare opportunity to drive the A45 hatchback, which is not sold in the US.

Mercedes says the AMG Winter Experience offers different levels depending on your driving proficiency and experience. The basic program, for example, focuses on safe driving and learning how to use AMG vehicles. The advanced program steps it up significantly, focusing on driving physics and the handling of high-powered vehicles in challenging situations. There's also a five-day 'Advanced Week,' a 'Pro' training level for previous guests with experience, a 'Pro Week,' and a 'Masters' training level for highly-experienced drivers.

Guests of the AMG Winter Experience can stay in either the Hotel Silverhatten or the AMG Lodge, located less than 12 miles from the training site. The Hotel Silverhatte offers a restaurant, hotel bar, sauna, whirlpool, relaxation area, and gym, plus amazing views of northern Sweden. The AMG Lodge offers 29 exclusive single and double rooms, all of which include breaktaking mountain and lake views .
