What are the chances?
Dramatic footage of the TransAsia Airways plane coming down over a bridge before crashing into the Keelung River in Taipei has been doing the rounds this week. Passing drivers’ dash cams captured the flight’s final moments as the plane banked sharply, and dropped out of the sky. But how many of you spotted the plane hitting a taxi as it strikes the road? Watch again, as the ATR-72’s left wing slices through a VW taxi van and hits the raised bridge section of a highway before plummeting into the river.
Amazingly, the driver of the taxi, Mr. Zhou, survived the impact, although suffered severe head injuries and concussion. Out of the 58 passengers on board the plane, fifteen are known to have survived. The accident is currently under investigation with the cause not yet known.
