The Ferrari 599 GTO is a rare breed of Prancing Horse not normally seen on the drag strip. With only 599 units ever produced, the extreme V12 berlinetta was the Italian's fastest-ever road car boasting an output of 670hp and a curb weight of 3,540lbs. The formidable Ferrari runs a 0-62mph sprint in 3.35 seconds and is capable of reaching speeds as high as 208mph. The first race on this week's edition of Drag Race Tuesdays pits the ferocious Ferrari 599 GTO against the master of the straight-line sprint, the Nissan GT-R.

Some of you might be sick of the supercar-killer, but what other model has consistently set the standard on the drag strip as to which other cars are judged? This particular version of Godzilla, however has been tuned by ECUTEK and given their Stage 2 program with a comparable 670hp. The second race pits the stock Ferrari 599 GTO against a Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 tuned by Lingenfelter. The Brighton, Michigan-based tuning company led by Ken Lingenfelter (whom we profiled yesterday, along with his incredible garage) has given the 'Vette an impressive 730hp.

The Ferrari 599 GTO held the record for lap time at the Fiorano test track, with a time of only 1 minute 24 seconds. Does it hold up in the straight-line sprint against two modern day gladiators? Check out all the action below on this week's edition of Drag Race Tuesdays.
