The 'Beat the Heat' program was established back in 2009 to educate the youth about the dangers of illegal street racing by... legally racing the local police. The program was set up in South Florida, Miami to be exact. The most recent Beat the Heat event was held at the Countyline Dragway in Miami and featured a heavily-modified Police-spec Ford Mustang LX notchback against Redline Motorsports' 2012 Camaro ZL1 (which CarBuzz happened to profile only a week ago).

The 750hp 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 features a High Capacity Cold Air Intake System along with the stock 1.9-liter blower and catalytic converters with a density altitude of well over 1000ft. A Redline Motorsports proprietary camshaft, upper and lower pulleys, headers, improved heat exchanger, performance torque converter and Mickey Thompson drag radials all help to enhance the ZL1's performance. Total output has been measured at over 750hp and 700 lb-ft of torque. The Ford Mustang LX has been heavily modified to perform on the drag strip and gives the tuned Camaro ZL1 a great run for its money.

Can it keep up until the finish? Make your picks now and check out the awesome action below on this week's edition of Drag Race Tuesdays. Big ups to Sandra for the tip!
