Eagle Brings 1960s Jaguar E-Type Speedster Back To Life

Eagle

UK-based Jaguar E-Type restorer and sales outfit, Eagle, has something new that they'll be showing at the 2011 Salon Prive Concours d'Elegance beginning on June 22. The E-Type Speedster Lightweight, according to Eagle, is "the world's most exclusive hand built car." To start things off, the Eagle team worked with every piece of the original car and tweaked and reworked them to improve performance and reduce weight.

All told, the Lightweight comes in at just over 2,200 pounds, which is 400 pounds lighter than their 2009 Eagle E-Type Speedster (pictured here). It supposedly has a power-to-weight ratio comparable to that of a 2011 Porsche 911 Turbo. It also retains the original 4.7-liter fuel-injected six-cylinder engine and aluminum drivetrain that produces nearly 310hp and 340 lb-ft of torque. Eagle is claiming a 0 to 60 mph time in less than five seconds. We'll be on the lookout for official pictures of the new E-Type Speedster Lightweight when it debuts next month.
