The Lotus Elise sadly hasn't been sold in the US since late 2011. In the UK, however, the small and light roadster is still alive and well and ready for driving and track day enthusiasts. Since its 1996 debut, Lotus has evolved the Elise by means of styling updates inside and out as well as improvements to its engine lineup. Today, UK buyers can get an Elise powered by a Toyota-sourced supercharged 1.8-liter that's good for 217 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque.

That may not sound like all that much but when you consider the car tips the scales at just 1,896 lbs. and you're looking at one hell of a power to weight ratio. The guys over at XCar recently got behind the wheel of an Elise S at Lotus' Hethel test track to see what this little bad boy can do.
