Fans of the Rocket Man and the redhead are in for a treatas Sir Elton's Testarossa hits the market.

If you wanted to stand out like a candle in the wind back in the 80s, then there were few cars that had better head-turning capabilities than a Ferrari Testarossa. The fact that this clean model was presented to by MCA records to Sir Elton John as a 40th birthday present adds to this particular car's mystique. According to Australia's CarSales.com, the 1987 Testarossa comes complete with a signed letter of confirmation from the Rocket Man himself. The car is in pristine condition, having covered less than 20,000 km and been lovingly cared for.

Launched in 1984, the Testarossa (Italian for "redhead" in reference to the red valve covers) ran until 1991, becoming a household name thanks in part to its starring role in the television series Miami Vice, whose director Michael Mann is an avowed Ferrari fanatic. Distinguished by its wide stance (at almost two meters) and finned side strakes, the Testarossa is powered by a 5.0-liter flat-12 engine, good for 390 horsepower and 361 pound-feet of torque. Top speed was quoted at 180 mph and could sprint from 0-62 mph in 5.2 seconds, exceptional performance for its day.

If you're still standing and willing to sacrifice in the region of $200,000 - significantly more than the going rate - then this Prancing Horse could become your prized possession. Just don't let the sun go down before you make a decision.
