Infiniti's latest concept is the EV speedster of your dreams.
A few days ago Infiniti released a teaser image of its upcoming new concept slated to be revealed at Pebble Beach later this month. The problem with that image is the fact that save for an open cockpit, it gave little away about the car's design. But today we have a far more revealing teaser image to share. Presenting the Prototype 10, a successor of sorts to last year's stunning Prototype 9 retro e-roadster concept, also revealed at Pebble Beach.
The Prototype 10 is also a single-seat, electrified speedster which, according to Infiniti, "provides a window into the brand's desire to deliver driving pleasure and thrilling performance from electrified powertrains." The Japanese brand further states that when conceiving the overall design and attitude of the concept, it aimed for a "cool, clean and forward-looking design." The latest concept image, shown here, certainly matches that criterion. Will the Prototype 10 make production? Not in it's current format. However, Infiniti Executive Design Director Karim Habib says that the concept "echoes the layout and design of some of the most evocative car designs of all time, where power was celebrated through high-powered single-seat competition cars.
"Our new concept speaks of an electrified future, something which is reflected in its form and details. It is appropriate that we found inspiration in an optimistic bygone era in which cars were characterized by the simple love of driving." Okay, so what does that mean? Infiniti's upcoming EV designs will be the exact opposite of bland. They will be race inspired and full of emotion. Hopefully they'll drive that way as well. The Infiniti Prototype 10 Concept will be making its world debut next Thursday, August 23 at Pebble Beach.
