Gareth Ainsworth, in case you don't know, is an English soccer star who has a bit of a knack to spend his enormous paychecks on cars like any good athlete. What we like is his excuse for getting in bed with different sorts of cars, from the pretty boy out-of-the-box racers like Porsches to the 1969 Mach 1 Mustang we see here. He blames his love of multiple cars to "phases," sort of how you tried that punk haircut in high school and later went with a crew cut.

Despite being from across the pond, Ainsworth has his heart in the right place given his love of Detroit horsepower. In its latest manifestation, his muscle car mania has led him to skew towards the Mustang…at least for now. However Auto Express wants to tempt him with the newest version of the car in order to keep him locked into the Ford family.

From what we can tell, Gareth seems to be sold. While it's easy to spot his undying love for the Mach 1, the Grabber colors on this newer 'Stang has him hooked. What doesn't remain hooked too long, though, are the rear tires once Gareth learns about line lock. Still, an easy burnout isn't the only thing that determines what a good car is, and it's useless to compare the two since they are literally from two different eras. For Gareth, and us, there's nothing to do but enjoy both pieces of Blue Oval eye candy.
