The Land Rover Defender is a legend amongst the off-roading fraternity, and although the modern version has been on sale in North America for a while, there are still many that believe that the original Defender remains king of the 4x4 world. We've seen numerous resto-mods, a 650 hp version, as well as digital renderings inspired by the original design, but now comes a modified version that will make you fall in love with this boxy brute all over again.

E.C.D Automotive Design, based in Kissimmee, Florida, is well known for restoring Landrover Defenders and has come up with some beautiful creations. Case in point is this rare Defender 130 pickup which has seen some extensive modifications.

Named Project Mas, the Defender you see in front of you is a true head-turner thanks to its monochromatic Santorini Black exterior which gives it a zombie-smashing look that is undeniably badass. The exterior features a Gloss black roof, 20-inch EDC wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A tires, as well as a bumper and winch combo with daytime running lights. To keep things safe you get a full six-point roll cage, as well as a LED light bar and D130 roof rack. Accessories included in the build are Optimil Race Metal hinges, black Jerry cans, and a swing-away wheel carrier.

The car rides on an ECD air ride suspension system and is stopped with Brembo brakes finished off in pink. At the rear is a set of Sport Dual Plus exhaust pipes. Powering this machine is a 6.2-liter LS3 engine belting out 565 horses, and is mated to a six-speed auto transmission.

The interior of Project Mas is another story altogether: the cabin is upholstered in Spinneybeck VP Black leather, which is a continuation on the car's all-black theme. The seats are high-performance heated and ventilated Corbeau Trailcat units with an M logo custom monogrammed into the headrests. The Puma dashboard is complemented by black metal door handles and a Momo Prototipo all-black steering wheel.

The interior also features modern tech such as backup cameras, blind-spot assistance, remote locking, and wireless phone charging. "Project Mas has such an incredible presence on the road. It looks like a modern military vehicle on the outside, yet subtle luxury and refinement are present on the inside" says Co-Founder, Tom.
