Even Digital Speedometers Can Hardly Keep Up With The 612-HP AMG E63 S

Mercedes gives us a lesson on how to deliver unshakable violence with sublime class.

We have already seen that the brand new Mercedes-AMG E63 S is capable of some epic driving. The new AMG E-Class comes with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with 612 horsepower and 626 lb-ft of torque in the S trim. This power goes out to 4Matic AWD through a nine-speed automatic transmission. The car also comes with a tire-shredding drift mode like the Ford Focus RS, but we think this car will really shine when it comes to straight-line acceleration. The new AMG E63 is so good, in fact, that we think it is the best car in the AMG lineup.

This new video from Sport Auto shows how insanely fast the E63 can hit 250 kilometers per hour (150 MPH). Like most German cars, the E-Class is limited to 155 MPH, so this video shows just about how quickly you would be able to get to the car's top speed from a standstill. If you want to go faster, you can pay extra for Mercedes to unlock 186 MPH.

Mercedes claims that the E63 AMG will do 0-60 in 3.5 seconds, while the S model will take only 3.3 seconds. This mid-size sedan will be able to destroy most sports cars in a drag race, and AMG has certainly laid down a tough benchmark for the next generation Audi RS6 and BMW M5.
