If we had the money, we'd also be tempted.
The pioneering Lamborghini Miura - with its rear mid-engined configuration and wedge styling - is known for fetching mega sums of money whenever one goes up for sale. After all, fewer than 800 were ever built and production ceased almost 50 years ago. Besides that, it inspired many glorious supercars in the decades to come, such as the Lamborghini Aventador S. So with all that in mind, maybe it's no surprise that a 1968 Lamborghini Miura P400 is currently bidding for nearly $900,000 on Bring A Trailer.
The example being sold here is one of the earlier P400 models and, as part of a two-year restoration, is painted in a searing shade of Verde Miura. It was originally sold in Italy before spending much of its life in California. That was before the current owner, located in British Columbia, Canada, got hold of it and went about with the impressive restoration. The updates extended to a new cabin finished in blue leather, along with rebuilds of the 3.9-liter V12 engine and five-speed manual gearbox.
Certain parts of the chassis have also been strengthened. The finished product is an absolutely beautiful sight to behold - so beautiful, in fact, that this Miura bagged multiple awards, including at the 2019 Vancouver Concours d'Elegance. It even scored an invitation to the 50th anniversary of the Miura. As the pictures show, this Miura is in perfect shape, although that blue cabin may take some getting used to. A dainty wood-trimmed steering wheel is fitted.
For the new owner's peace of mind, this Miura comes with invoices from its current owner and is also sold with photos from its restoration. It's worth noting that although a mileage of around 29,000 miles is indicated, the car's total miles aren't known. With the auction set to end today, could this Miura end up reaching seven figures? Although that kind of money could end up buying you almost five brand new Huracans, it's difficult to put a price on this legendary sports car.
