The TRD Griffon Project showcases what the carmaker’s performance arm division can do.
The TRD Griffon Project that debuted at the Tokyo Auto Salon is coming to the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The pure-bred racing variant of the Toyota GT86 weighs just 2,279 lbs courtesy of a liberal application of carbon fiber and CFRP, which is a 500 lb drop from the stock sports coupe. Inside, the cabin comes with a TRD driver’s bucket seat, gear shift knob, ignition button, a Momo steering wheel and Takata seatbelts. TRD also stiffened the suspension, added its own mechanical limited-slip differential and shortened the final gear ratio.
