Does the upcoming F-Type Coupe have what it takes to take on the Porsche 911? We'll find out soon enough.
The first test drive reports of Jaguar's F-Type Roadster are coming in and from what we can tell, the Porsche 911 may have a new foe on its hands. While the base V6 F-Type will likely take on the Porsche Boxster, Jaguar would very much like to see the supercharged V6 and V8 versions of the upcoming coupe take on the iconic 911. Car Advice is reporting that not only is Jaguar fully confident about the performance abilities of its new two-seater, but the idea of going after the 911 is an opportunity that won't be passed up.
Adrian Hallmark, the company's global brand director, claims Jaguar has considered several options for the future of the F-Type lineup. Along with the already-confirmed coupe and a potential hard-core 600-horsepower version, Jaguar is also considering "manuals, diesels and hybrids, small-capacity engines and all-wheel-drive versions." To clarify Jaguar's position on this matter, Hallmark stated the following: "Let's put it this way: everything you could imagine we have imagined too." Sounds fantastic, so now we can assume Jaguar is considering an AWD supercharged coupe variant that'll go head-to-head with the 911 Turbo.
