Coming straight from Nurburgring, BMW has unveiled the next generation F10 M5 Ring Taxi that will soon begin entertaining thrill seekers at the world famous track. At the same time, BMW has announced that their new M5 has clocked an official Nurburgring lap time of 7 minutes and 55 seconds. To put that time into perspective, it is 4 seconds faster than the Cadillac CTS-V and 1 second faster than the Porsche Panamera Turbo.

It's also faster than the Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder and the Ferrari California GT. Perhaps most importantly, it is 18 seconds faster than its E60 M5 predecessor. Whoever said that downsizing to a V8 from a V10 would be a bad thing? So until Porsche returns with a Panamera Turbo S, the new M5 reigns supreme for large sedans at the Ring.
