Fast & Furious fans are in for a treat this year, as the franchise's first spin-off movie, Hobbs & Shaw, races into cinemas this summer. And judging from this new trailer, the action is going to be crazier than ever before. You'll want to put your brain in the backseat and have a huge bag of popcorn on hand when watching it in the cinema because the laws of physics need not apply.

Our first look at the new Fast & Furious spinoff back in February revealed that Luke Hobbs, played by Dwayne Johnson, and Deckard Shaw, played by Jason Statham, will be fighting against Brixton played by Idris Elba, a genetically enhanced supervillain who is bulletproof. It sounds like the plot for a Marvel superhero film – you'd be forgiven for forgetting the Fast & Furious franchise used to be about illegal street racing.

If you don't care about the supernatural plot, Hobbs & Shaw will still feature plenty of explosive automotive action for gearheads to enjoy. The first trailer confirmed that the McLaren 720S will get chased by bad buys on bikes through the streets of London and slide under not one, but two semi trucks in homage to the first film. Several McLaren Sports Series models also feature in the second trailer, and we get a very brief glimpse of the Jeep Gladiator, but it's still unclear what role it will play. Judging from its short screen time in the trailer, it will probably be a small cameo.

Hobbs & Shaw will also keep up the franchise's family-themed tradition, as we get to meet Deckard's sister played by Vanessa Kirby, while Dwayne Johnson's character reunites with his extended family who runs the Hobbs Custom car shop.

As a result, we get to see some crazy-looking custom cars in action, including a hot rod that appears to be based on a Peterbilt semi truck being chased by a rocket-firing helicopter. It culminates in an insane action sequence in which several cars get chained together and dragged in the air by the side of a cliff by the helicopter. We can't wait to see how Fast & Furious 9 tops this next year. Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw races into cinemas on August 2.
