Paolo Dellacha previously worked for Maserati and Ferrari.
Automobili Pininfarina has announced that Paolo Dellacha has been appointed CEO of the bespoke automaker.
Dellacha, who previously served as the company's Chief Product and Engineering Officer, replaces Per Svantesson, who now heads into retirement. "I am very grateful for the opportunity to lead Automobili Pininfarina into its next phase of evolution. As a proud Italian, the legacy of Pininfarina is always an inspiration to me," said Dellacha.
The native Italian is responsible for the incredible Pininfarina Battista, an all-electric supercar that will be made in highly limited numbers. The dramatically-styled EV recently smashed an acceleration record, blitzing from 0 to 60 mph in 1.79 seconds and toppling the Rimac Nevera in the process.
Just 150 examples are slated for production, which commenced in July last year. Just a handful of these extraordinary creations have arrived in the United States and will undoubtedly create envy at every turn. We spoke to Dellacha soon after the cars arrived in the USA, and he explained how much of his previous work filtered down into the Battista.
Under Dellacha's rule, Pininfarina will reveal a slew of electric vehicles in the future. "Now we will take the opportunity to enhance the position of Automobili Pininfarina among the leading names in electrified automotive luxury. Pininfarina is recognized as a design leader, and this, coupled with the technical expertise we have nurtured through bringing Battista to life, will enable us to craft a series of beautiful and thrilling electric cars in the future," he added.
If the Battista is anything to go by, future vehicles will be truly remarkable.
The new CEO has an impressive resume, with long stints at both Ferrari and Maserati. While working at the Prancing Horse, Dellacha worked as a test engineer and innovation manager, playing a big part in developing the Ferrari FF's four-wheel drive system.
Later, he moved over to Maserati and served as the head of the technical development team for the Maserati Levante, among other things.
"Paolo has overseen the groundbreaking Battista technical program from concept to delivery. The Battista is already an award-winning, world record-breaking luxury car and I look forward to seeing the team now under his leadership realize the immense potential it has displayed since the company was born," said Gurpratap Boparai, CEO of Automotive Business, for Mahindra & Mahindra Europe.
We look forward to seeing what else comes out of Pininfarina, and can only hope for something as breathtaking as the Battista.
