It's not meant to be sexy.
Forget Chrysler Group LLC. That name is dead in the water, a reminder of worse times. The Michigan-based automaker has just announced that it’s given itself a new name, effective immediately, which follows the naming convention of its global parent company, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA). Chrysler’s official new name is FCA US LLC. Try to contain your excitement.
The carmaker is quick to point out that the name change does not affect its headquarters in Auburn Hills, Michigan, its holdings, management, board, brands, or any of its employees. So yes, the name Chrysler is no longer the parent brand for Dodge, Ram, and Jeep. All three, along with Mopar, the SRT performance vehicle designation, the sole Alfa Romeo, the 4C, and Fiat North America will fall under the FCA US LLC banner. It may no longer be officially called Chrysler, but the brand is still very much alive and doing extremely well. Remember, just a few years ago things were looking much, much worse so despite its weird name, there's reason to be cheerful.
