Although the all-new Ferrari F12berlinetta has recently made its official debut doesn't mean that it's time to close the book on its predecessor, the 599 GTB, just yet. While the 599 GTB road car is out of production, the track-only 599XX Evolution is still very much alive and running. It officially had its debut last December at the 2011 Bologna Motor Show and just recently it made an appearance at the Suzuka race circuit in Japan.

And thanks to the good people over at Car Nifty, we've been given this great video showing the track-only supercar in action.

Obviously, the 'Evolution' name simply refers to it being a hardcore, evolutionary version of the 599 GTB and 'standard' 599XX. Power has been increased to a total of 740hp and 516lb-ft of torque. Ferrari engineers accomplished this by redirecting the exhaust pipes out of the sides. It also weighs 77 lbs. less than the 599XX. As with the 599XX, the Evolution will be sold only to loyal Ferrari Corse Clienti (that's Italian for rich race clients) who take part in track-based research and development programs.
