Ferrari must be fuming after extremely revealing pictures of its Purosangue SUV leaked a couple of days ago. As expected, it looks less like an SUV and more like a mildly raised sports car with its bulging bodywork and low ride height. Since that leak, it's almost amusing to see Ferrari Purosangue test mules out and about covered with camo as Ferrari tries to conceal the last minor design details that haven't already been seen. Nevertheless, a fresh batch of spy images has emerged of the hot SUV undergoing cold-weather testing. From some angles, the heavy camo makes the Purosangue look more like a sporty wagon or even a shooting brake.

Unlike in those earlier leaked images, these new sightings show the Purosangue with a different ten-spoke wheel design that looks particularly aggressive but far from the brand's typical styling. At the back, there are quad-exit tailpipes that will no doubt emit a wonderful roar from what we expect is Ferrari's 3.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine. In the Ferrari Roma, this V8 produces 612 horsepower and 561 lb-ft of torque. That's plenty, but it's some way off the 697-hp twin-turbo V8 in the recently revealed Aston Martin DBX707. However, we expect the Ferrari to be just as quick as its Lamborghini Urus and Aston Martin rivals. With an expected all-wheel-drive system, the Purosangue should be both quick and capable in the kind of slippery conditions it's pictured in here. Hybridization is also expected to feature.

Inside, the Purosangue should easily be the most practical Ferrari ever with seating for at least four and a proper trunk, although its rakish design means it's unlikely to compete with other SUVs in this regard. From Bentley to Aston Martin, these high-end automakers have been able to drastically increase their sales volumes by entering the SUV segment. We expect it to be no different for the Purosangue, and it has perhaps the most desired badge of all in the automotive industry. Despite the recent leak of what appeared to be a production-ready vehicle, deliveries of the Purosangue are only expected to begin in 2023.
