Ferrari Lights Up Goodwood with Supercars Past and Present

Goodwood Festival of Speed / Comments

Two UK debuts and a magnificent collection of classics wowed the crowds at the Goodwood FOS.

Ferrari used the occasion of the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend to bring its two latest convertibles - the new 458 Spider and the refreshed California 30 - to the UK for the first time. Joining the barchettas on the run up the hill were the all-wheel drive, V12 FF and the 2009 F60 single-seater. Scuderia Ferrari driver Marc Gene remarked: "The track is extremely narrow, so it feels quite fast even though we are only doing 156 mph."

"We have brought the car here because it won in 2009 and we like to bring F1 to the fans here in England," continued Gene. "The Festival of Speed is one of the biggest - if not the biggest - events in the world."

Along with the new machinery, several classic Ferraris were on display, including a rare 1953 250 MM in original race livery, and a classic 250 GTO. Leading the Michelin Supercar Run, renowned radio host and Ferrari collector Chris Evans brought his 'Magnificent Seven', representing some of the most coveted Ferraris of all time: the 250 SWB, 275 GTB4, 365 GTB4, 288 GTO, F40, 550 Barchetta and SA Aperta.
