With enough cash, you too could have a one-off Ferrari.
Eric Clapton's custom Ferrari was spied a couple of times back in March when it was sat in a London showroom, but until now it wasn't official. Ferrari has decided to lift the lid on the legendary musician's and Ferrari enthusiast's one-off car, revealing a few minor details about it. Dubbed the SP12 EC, the bespoke model was designed by Centro Stile Ferrari in collaboration with Pininfarina and Maranello engineers, with inspiration coming from Clapton's favorite Ferrari, the 512 BB.
The moniker is derived from 'SP' for Special Projects, '12' from the 512 BB, and 'EC' from slowhand himself. The bespoke model is based on the 458 Italia and was built as part of Ferrari's One-Off Programme. Clapton described the project as "an incredible experience, one of the most satisfying things I've ever done." Whether the build was purely cosmetic or whether more power was generated from the 458's 4.5-liter V8 has yet to be announced. To find out, and to hear more about the project you'll have to pick up the next edition of the Ferrari Magazine.
