Ferrari has already started embracing electrification with the 296 GTB V6 hybrid supercar and the SF90 Stradale, but the Italian automaker's first fully electric supercar won't arrive until 2025. Ferrari is keeping tight-lipped about its first EV, but in a new development, Ferrari and its parent company Exor N.V. have announced a multi-year partnership with LoveFrom, a design firm founded in 2019 by former Apple designers Sir Jony Ive and Marc Newson to help create the electric supercar. When he worked for Apple as Chief Design Officer, Ive led the team that designed the iMac, iPod, iPhone, and iPad, while Newson helped design the Apple Watch.

Ferrari says the partnership will combine its legendary performance with LoveFrom's "unrivaled experience and creativity."

As part of the collaboration, LoveFrom will also "explore a range of creative projects" with Exor in the luxury sector. Given their experience working at Apple, you would might assume that Ive and Newson will focus on designing technology for the electric Ferrari's interior such as the user interface for the infotainment system. However, LoveFrom will work directly with Ferrari's design team led by Flavio Manzoni, suggesting that the ex-Apple designers will have an active role in designing Ferrari's first electric supercar.

"In building great companies, we also believe in building great partnerships. Soon after LoveFrom was founded we began to talk with Jony and Marc about opportunities to combine their world-renowned creativity with ours, in complementary and incremental ways," said John Elkann, Chairman and Chief Executive of Exor and Chairman of Ferrari.

"Ferrari represents a first, exciting chance to do great things together as we build our future. I'm also delighted that Jony is joining our Partners Council where we look forward to benefitting from his uniquely valuable perspectives."

LoveFrom's Newson and Ive added: "We have been friends with John [Elkann] for many years and are great admirers of his insight and vision. We are thrilled to be embarking on such an important, long-term collaboration with Ferrari and more broadly Exor. As Ferrari owners and collectors, we could not be more excited about collaborating with this extraordinary company and in particular with the design team expertly led by Flavio Manzoni. We see some uniquely exciting opportunities working together which we believe will yield important and valuable work."
