The Ferrari California T will have first time buyers yearning for more.
When we spoke with Ferrari in Geneva, the carmaker’s representatives were insistent the California T was an all-new car. There was no talk of a refresh or facelift. All the body panels are new, there’s a new turbocharged 3.8-liter V8, and the chassis has been reworked with a beefed up dual-clutch F1 gearbox, improved suspension and high-performance brakes. Testing the T in Italy, Autocar is suitably impressed with Ferrari’s reworking of what some call Maranello’s entry-level model.
It’s a car to entice first-time Ferrari buyers, and one that will now give them a true Ferrari experience. Apart from the dimensions, the California T shares little with its predecessor. And that’s a good thing.
