Ferrari Won't Like This C8 LaCorvette Stingray

Is this funny or just stupid?

The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray C8 is one of the most visually arresting vehicles to ever be built in America, and with its mid-engined layout, driver-focused cockpit, and stunning design, it's a bona fide supercar that has the performance to match its styling. But that's not enough for some. At some point in our lives, we've all likely looked at a Ferrari with longing, and while there are ways to give the 'Vette Ferrari F8 Tributo-beating performance with aftermarket upgrades, there is also a wrong way of modifying cars.

Sure, taste is subjective, but sticking an Apple logo on an old BlackBerry doesn't give it iTunes. Yet that's exactly what this C8 owner has done.

Dailydrivenexotics, a supercar-spotting page on Instagram, has posted an image of the page owner's Corvette. From a distance, the bright red paint is striking, but when you get closer, you can see that the owner has put Ferrari badges exactly where they would be if the car was built in Maranello.

Playing with the Ferrari brand is a risky business. Electronic music DJ Deadmau5 knows this all too well. He received a cease and desist letter from Ferrari, after he altered the appearance of his 458 so much that the brand found it disrespectful and tarnishing to the brand. Other manufacturers don't take this so seriously, but Ferrari absolutely will sue you if they don't like what you do with the cars you bought from them. Which is odd, frankly.

The owner of this particular Ferrari wannabe is well aware of the legal implications of his actions, as the Instagram post was accompanied by a caption that reads as follows:

"Patiently waiting for my cease and desist 😘 LaC8 #dailydrivenexotics #ferrari #LaC8".

It's not difficult to see the similarities in shape between the C8 and the LaFerrari, but Ferrari's legal team are unlikely to find this funny. Why did the owner do it? For a laugh? To pick up unsuspecting gold diggers? Why is a windshield wiper cocked out of place? We don't know, but we will admit that the world needs less seriousness at times, and this sort of thing is just what the doctor ordered.
