The 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show has been packed with nothing if not Fiat 500s and electric cars. Now the two have come together with the unveiling of the new Fiat 500e, which follows the 500C Abarth and 500L Trekking, and the Chevy Spark EV, BMW i3 Coupe Concept and Smart ForJeremy Electric Drive at this year's Californian motor expo. Underneath the unique Electrico Arancione optional paintjob sits an electric motor with 111 horsepower and 147 lb-ft of torque to give the 500e a claimed range of more than 100 miles.

Charging from a 240v outlet takes less than four hours. The electric Cinquecento rides on 15" wheels with low-rolling-resistance rubber, and the body has been optimized for low drag. While the orange exterior color with the white accents on the mirrors and perforated lower bumpers is only available with a white interior, buyers will also be able to opt for black, white, grey or silver, with an e-Sport package offering an orange-accented black interior and black wheels. The dashboard features a seven-inch TFT screen that displays the battery and range information, while an iPhone or Android app keeps owners up to date on the car's charging status from afar.
