A report sourced from Car and Driver suggests Fiat is planning to introduce a 500T Sport for the 2013MY. The company has filed documents with the NHTSA and with the California Air Resources Board (CARB) that corroborates previous rumors that a new model would be arriving positioned between the standard Fiat 500 and the Abarth. Fan site Fiat500USA posted pictures of what they believe is the 500T Sport, i.e. a slightly longer 500 Abarth with enough space for a turbocharger's intercooler.

Reports also suggest it will get detuned 130hp 1.4-liter turbocharged engine from the US-spec Abarth. The NHTSA document shows the '500T Sport' moniker in the Series clarification along with Pop, Sport, Lounge Abarth and Electric, while the Abarth is listed under the '2 Door Convertible' group. A convertible Abarth, which is sure to be a big hit, will likely come with a 500C-style retractable-cloth-roof. Its expected that these cars will be available within the next twelve months.
