Toyota has been teasing its all-new GR Corolla since late last year, progressively revealing more and more details to us through cryptic numbers and scripts. One of these saw a commercial for the Toyota GR86 being joined by two Formula Drift GR Supras before a short clip was revealed earlier this week that once again confirmed all-wheel drive while announcing that the hot hatchback would arrive this week. In fact, it's being revealed this evening, March 31st, but we highly doubt that the GR Corolla is part of the world's most elaborate April Fools' joke. That said, Toyota clearly has a sense of humor as is evidenced by the very last teaser, published earlier on Instagram.

In the comical short clip, we see a crazed Corolla fan who has pored over every last little detail he could find in Toyota's numerous teasers, trying to glean anything that might have been missed. Various shots confirming the car's all-wheel-drive system, powertrain, and more have been given a quick feature, showcasing just how long Toyota has been hiding teasers in plain sight on its social media platforms. But the end of the short clip adds one last teaser. Just as the character seems to be giving up all hope, tearing down all the evidence he's collected over the past few months, he asks the universe for a sign. This man must be all out of luck, because as he's closing the door to his cave of conspiracy, the GR Corolla drives past behind him.

Fortunately, his and our suffering will finally come to an end tonight as the GR Corolla is revealed to the world in all its glory. Expect the 1.6-liter turbocharged G16E-GTS three-cylinder from the awesome GR Yaris to power all four wheels with the aid of Torsen front, center, and rear differentials and a six-speed manual gearbox. Recent rumors have suggested that an eight-speed automatic gearbox will be offered later too, and that the car will only be available as a five-door hatch. Will it have more power than the GR Yaris, which produces 261 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque? We'll let you know soon.
